What inspired you to start your business?
After spending 15 years marketing 250+ movies for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Dreamworks and Touchstone Pictures, this gal was a little stressed out, overwhelmed, unhealthy and living an unbalanced life. I was inspired to start my own business as a Personal Branding Coach and Consultant for a few reasons:
- I wasn’t excited about returning to a 9 to 5 job
- I wanted to choose how I spent my time and energy and with whom
- I could take my favorite aspects of what I did best in marketing movies - storytelling, creating value and understanding brand consistency - and leverage it in working with creative entrepreneurs (how fun!)
- And, I could make a difference in helping people create a life with work they love by empowering them to define and use the power of their personal brand
How do you stay motivated through the ups and downs of your business?
I think of my WHY. When I feel grounded in my purpose for creating my business in the first place, I’m very motivated to keep going. It’s about being my own boss, designing a life that’s more balanced, growing my business so that I can afford to take time to focus on other things in my life that are just as important as my career and mission. And, it’s about making a bigger difference for the people I work with.
What advice would you give the younger you?
Never stop dreaming about your next biggest dream. Anything is possible.
How does your spirituality impact your business?
I’m a big fan of leveraging the universe as a co-creator for the life and work I want to live. Manifestation is my spirituality and it shows up as a daily practice that includes thinking positively, expressing affirmations, and believing in myself.
How do you balance all of your commitments personally and professionally?
Believe it or not, I rely on my Personal Brand! When I’m making life and work decisions I put each opportunity through my “brand filter” which tells me whether what I’m prioritizing in my life is aligned with my overall mission and vision.
What has been your biggest challenge along the way and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge was the struggle in thinking I “should” go back to a 9 to 5 job because that was the “responsible” and “practical” thing to do. But, I’ve never been one to give up easily, and my dream for running my own business kept growing and getting clearer and clearer every day. Having a coach helped me overcome my challenge and gave me clarity, accountability and guidance for ultimately choosing one direction (my business) and going ALL IN.
In what ways do you feel like you are impacting the world by doing the work that you do?
I’m extremely passionate about helping people own their personal power and leverage their greatest gifts so they can share the best of themselves with the world. When people are excited about what they’re doing, it creates a positive energy that’s contagious. That’s definitely a world I want to live in and if I can have a hand in creating that? I say YES every time.
